About the course
A reliable recall is one of the most important skills your dog can learn. It can mean the difference between safety and danger, freedom and frustration, confidence and chaos. But many dogs struggle with recall because it is taught as a command instead of a conditioned response. In this 4 week course, you will learn how to build a recall your dog genuinely wants to respond to. Instead of repeating your dog’s name or hoping they listen, you will create a recall cue that has real meaning for your dog. This course walks you through the exact progression I use with my own clients to build strong recall foundations and gradually expand reliability around distractions. Inside the course you will learn how to: • Choose and condition a powerful recall cue • Create excitement and motivation for returning to you • Build engagement before asking for recall • Train recall with increasing levels of distraction • Practice recall safely in real world environments • Avoid common mistakes that weaken recall reliability This program is designed for dog guardians who want practical, welfare centered training that actually works outside of perfect conditions. By the end of the course, you will have a clear plan for building a recall that holds up in everyday life.
Liz Vanderhoef, LFDM
I’m Liz Vanderhoef, a dog behavior consultant and trainer focused on helping people build clear communication and real life reliability with their dogs. Over the past several years I have worked extensively with dogs struggling with reactivity, adolescent challenges, and engagement issues. Through that work, one pattern became very clear. Many dogs struggle with recall not because they are stubborn, but because the behavior was never truly conditioned. My approach focuses on building behaviors that dogs genuinely want to perform. Instead of relying on repetition or pressure, I teach owners how to create meaning around cues so dogs respond with confidence and enthusiasm.
